Have you ever wondered... who was Cornelia Warren?
A new website, created by recent graduate of Gann Academy, Aviva Stein, went live July 19th. CorneliaWarren.WordPress.com is all about Cornelia Warren, who many believe to be one of Waltham's greatest citizens. You can dive into Cornelia's life on the website, and learn how she improved life in Waltham. Visit CorneliaWarren.WordPress.com, and keep Cornelia's memory alive.
Here is a link to a video showing the harvesting of ice on the Charles River in 1920-25. It is believed to be at the Peterson Ice House near the Prospect Street bridge. Ice was cut by hand in this image, but the link is to a film made showing the use of motorized ice cutting equipment. It also shows the movement of ice from the river to the storage ice house.
